I was inspired by an anonymous photographer who photographed the Fort Point area around the turn of the (last) century and decided to recreate his work with a similar camera (4x5 large format film). Through these images, I'm asking the viewer to consider the small and large differences as well as similarities that are apparent in the two photographs. In order to make this more engaging, I've digitally transplanted particular artifacts from some old photos to the new versions and vice versa. Some of them are obvious in order to call attention to this manipulation, whereas others are more subtle.
